What's Nearby?

Situated in the Calder Valley, there are numerous walks on our door step. The River Calder and the Calder and Hebble canal are only a couple of mins walk away, and so is the nature reserve Cromwell Bottom.

Whether your interests are with walking, nature, history, literature, architecture, heritage or real ale, there is plenty to do within a short walk or ride from Ashdene.

  • Walk along the canal to Elland or Brighouse just over a mile in either direction or around the nearby nature reserve, good doggy walks.

  • Shibden Hall, the home of Gentleman Jack.

  • Halifax, especially the Piece Hall.

  • Hebden Bridge and the National Trust’s Gibson Mill.

  • A little further afield is Haworth, home to the Bronte family or Keighley for a trip on the Worth Valley Railway.

  • Skipton for the castle and the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales
